Phillip Banks, P. Eng., CPP,
Director, The Banks Group, Inc., Vancouver, Canada.

Phill leads The Banks Group in Vancouver, Canada. His security practice provides security program assessment, threat, risk and impact mitigation strategies, critical infrastructure protection assessment and solutions, security engineering design and strategic security planning services throughout North America and elsewhere.

Phill served 25 years in federal law enforcement with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police specializing in security engineering design completing his career as the Officer-in-Charge, National Security Engineering and Electronic Security Programs.

Phill is a member of the ASIS International, Physical Security Council and frequently conducts workshops with respect to, threat and risk mitigation, Critical Infrastructure Protection strategies, security management and security technology programs. He is also a faculty member for the ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification review program.

He is a professional engineer registered in Canada and the USA as well as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP).


Severin L. Sorensen, CPP, M.Phil,

President and CEO of Sikyur LLC, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.

Severin is the President and CEO of Sikyur LLC (www.sikyur.com) a security consulting company that advises Chief Security Officers (SCO) and their direct reports. He leads business development and management consulting in security assessments and master planning, security systems assessment and design/build projects, owner’s representative services in security systems construction management, and training in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and situational crime prevention.

Severin is an entrepreneurial business executive with 20 years senior level executive management experience in the physical security sector. He routinely advises thought leaders in the security industry on emerging trends in security, advanced video surveillance, outdoor perimeter protection technologies and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design. 

Severin has been the President and CEO of Sparta Consulting Corporation, the VP Business and Applications Development for Westec Interactive Security Inc, and now is the President and CEO of Sikyur LLC. Prior to these endeavours he served in the first Bush White House (1992-1993) as a Special Assistant to the President and Regional Liaison, Bureau of State and Local Affairs, Office of the National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

Severin is also the Academic Program Advisor for the ASIS Asset Protection Course 1; and Chairman of ASIS Video Surveillance Workshop (2008); and Chairman of the ASIS Security Guard Management Workshop (2009).


Jeffrey A. Slotnick, PSP,

Executive Director, Setracon Inc., Tacoma, Washington, USA

Jeff is the owner of "Setracon Inc." an investigative consultancy firm focused on the professional development and training of security, law enforcement, and military personnel, the provision of quality security services, protective services, and the conduct of risk, vulnerability, and threat assessments.

In addition to being a security industry consultant with more than 26 years of experience in providing professional development and training to security, law enforcement, military personnel, and conducting Security Risk Assessments, Mr. Slotnick also has extensive experience in the Public Works and Utilities field.

Jeff has been actively involved in the Homeland Defense effort, managing and conducting training in the protection of critical infrastructure, specifically, Risk Assessment Methodologies for Water Utilities, utilizing the Sandia National Laboratories Model (RAM-W SM) and Community Vulnerability Assessment Methodology (CVAM SM). Jeff was recently appointed to the Washington State Governor's Homeland Security Council as a consultant to the Infrastructure Protection Sub-Committee and is actively involved in the conduct of a large scale assessment of twenty one cities in Washington State.
